Message from the Minister, Winter 2025
So much has been said regarding the attainment of peace in the world. Especially this time of year, we celebrate the coming of the Christ, traditionally known as the Messiah or anointed one, the one who came to bring us peace. We pray for peace on earth and goodwill toward all people; however, we continue to live as a species in great division, holding the perspective of separation and judgment as our guide as human beings instead of the truth of oneness, acceptance, and love.
This is the reason it is so important to find our inner peace. It is where all peace starts and where it grows into peace in the world. When we have peace in our hearts, we will have peace in our homes. When we have peace in our homes, there will be peace in our communities. Where there is peace in the community, there is peace in the nation; and when there is peace in the nation there will be peace in the entire world.
Jesus did come to bring us peace, but not a peace from the outside. He came to show us how to find the everlasting peace of God within our own hearts and minds. He demonstrated a capacity to be in peace in the midst of dire circumstances and extreme violence as well as times of tranquility and joy. He taught us how to focus our thoughts, our mind, and our energy on the truth of Divine Love and live that love every day. It is not always the easiest path for human beings, but it is the most rewarding.
If we look at the figures in the world today who are stirring up the most hate, we can clearly see they have no inner peace. And if we notice the people who are healing and helping, inner peace will always be found in their hearts. If each of us could increase our practice of cultivating inner peace this upcoming year, you will see profound changes in the world around you. This is the gift you can offer yourself, along with the assurance that your spiritual practice will always bring you closer to the reality of a lasting peace.
So, this holiday season and every day of the year, give yourself the greatest gift of all, the peace which surpasses all understanding. Instead of getting overwhelmed by the world and simply giving up out of frustration; find your peace and bring that to the world. Turn on the light of true understanding and oneness and shine it into the darkness of the ignorance of separation. Instead of cursing the darkness, be the light of the world.
Remember, the gift of inner peace is a gift you must give yourself.
And remember as well, you are worth the gift!
Be Blessed and Be a Blessing
Rev. Tony
