Finding a Clear Reflection
One of the most important aspects of spiritual awakening is the discovery of your true Self. In order to find our true Self and live from our Christ nature there must first be a transformation of the way we identify ourselves in the world. It is a step we take from looking without to looking within. But in order to look within, we must have a clear view of where to focus our consciousness.
Meditation, prayer and contemplation are all ways we can focus our attention inward, calming the mind and opening to the experience of truth. The more we still the mind, the clearer reflection of our holiness comes into view. The more we see our spiritual perfection, the more we walk the world in peace and offer the reflection of God in us to everyone we meet. This is the moment we become the reflection of God on earth.
The Bible reminds us, “No one hath seen God at any time. But if we love one another, God dwells in us, and his love is perfected in us.” “This is how our love is made perfect… because as He is, so are we in this world.” (1 John 4:12 and 4:17) This scripture indicates that we do not see God with human eyes, but with the human heart. It is through love alone we are able to offer the reflection of God in the world. In fact, this passage goes as far to say, “As God is, so are we in this world.” In essence, it is telling us that we are God!
The necessity of a clear reflection, whether it be in the form of Jesus or Buddha or any other master teacher, cannot be overstated. The recognition of Jesus as a Christ or living son of God can be extremely beneficial in finding one’s true Self; but we will not be able to use Jesus as a true reflection if he is made into an idol, separate and above everyone else. The whole mission of Jesus was to be a reflection of God on earth, and to demonstrate the perfect love spoken of in the letters of John.
After many years of searching and study, there is one definitive conclusion I have come to regarding the demonstration of Jesus the Christ. He was a clear reflection of God on earth and even more so of God in us. The next step in the natural order of our spiritual evolution would be then for each of us to strive to become the clearest reflection of the divine we can possible be. This is our reasonable service, to ourselves and all of humankind.
Be blessed my friends and remember always to be a blessing.
