Embracing Wild Cape Cod; Focus on Birds.

Several local wildlife photographers will show their best bird photos and tell us how they got that special shot.
Stephanie Ellis , Executive Director of Wild Care, a wildlife rehabilitation hospital in Eastham, will talk about their work.. Stephanie has an enormous passion for wildlife rehabilitation and conservation, especially birds.
This will be followed by a local bird expert talking about which birds are around now and who to expect soon, major threats to birds, effects of climate change on birds and special places to see them. Also upcoming talks and walks with Mass Audubon Wellfleet and Mass Audubon Long Pasture.

Movie: Renewal

Inspiring short films about the environmental projects that are being done by a variety of different faith groups. The films will be followed by short presentations from local faith groups, including Susan Starkey and other members of our local FCEN (Faith Communities Environmental Network).

David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet

With Special Guest Speaker, Dr. Kumara Sidhartha

Over his lifetime, David Attenborough has seen first-hand the monumental scale of environmental change caused by human actions. Now, for the first time, he reflects on the devastating changes he’s witnessed and reveals how together we can address the biggest challenges facing our planet. And as always, the photography is spectacular.

Discussion follows with Kumara Sidhartha MD, MPH, a physician, public health nutrition advocate, researcher, author, and permaculture designer. He currently serves as the Chief Health Equity and Wellness Officer of Cape Cod Healthcare.

He also serves in the Massachusetts State Food is Medicine planning council convened by the Center for Health Law and Policy Innovation at the Harvard Law School. He is a contributing author in the textbook Promoting Biodiversity in Food Systems , that explores the connection between food systems, human health and planetary health.

Earth Day spring cleanup

Come and join us for a day of outdoor fun, as we cleanup our property for the spring. Bring your work clothes, gloves, rakes, garden tools, a bag lunch and all your creative ideas for making the grounds of our spiritual center beautiful for the spring and summer!
Many hands make for light work, so please jump in and make Unity on Cape Cod a colorful and inviting place to gather.

Unity on Cape Cod Book Club: Flight Behavior

This will be a hybrid meeting, so that those who cannot make the meeting in person can participate via Zoom. (Find Link on Home Page)

The May book choice is “Flight Behavior” by Barbara Kingsolver. This book is described as a "thoughtful novel about the scientific, financial and psychological intricacies of climate change.” Set in rural Appalachia, the overarching theme is of the monarch butterflies serving as a warning for climate change.
