Unity Book Club: Dessert with Buddha.

The March book choice is “Dessert with Buddha” by Roland Merullo. This latest addition to this hilarious series takes an eccentric, sort-of-Buddhist monk and his skeptical, middle-of-the-road brother-in-law on another enlightening road trip filled with meals, humor, social commentary, and good times. Mixed in with the humor are lots of spiritual messages of inspiration.

Women’s Lunch Group

Every month the women of Unity will meet for lunch on the third Thursday of the month.

Earth Day Sunday with special musical guest artist Tem Blessed!

Tem Blessed has been making relevant music with a message for over two decades. Tem's critically acclaimed graphic novel “Planeta Blu - Rise of Agoo” is designed to encourage and inspire young adults to dream big and work towards saving humanity through themes of compassion, sacrifice, determination, and love. He is a graduate of UMass Amherst. Born in West Africa to Cape Verdean parents, Tem has worked for over 20 years empowering youth. His music and message are about social justice, sustainability, and climate change.
Tem has shared the stage with national recording artists Common, KRS-One, Paul Stookey (from Peter, Pat and Paul), Ani DeFranco and Ludacris. Unity Book Club. Migrations by Charlotte McConaghy.

The next book club meeting will be held at Unity on Cape Cod. Everyone is invited, even if you have never attended a book club meeting before. Please join us for a discussion of “Migrations”. This novel is about a woman, who is haunted by her past, embarks on a sea voyage from Greenland to Antarctica to follow the last Arctic terns on their migration, a journey that becomes a reflection of her own personal struggles and the impact of climate change. It is about a voyage of discovery far beyond the birds.

EarthCare Film Series. Ecosophia.

Discussion follows with former Senator Dan Wolfe, Board Member of Cape Cod Climate Change Collaborative, and Dr. Rev. Kristen Harper, Senior Minister at Unitarian Church of Barnstable.

Ecosophia means “ecological wisdom.” This film features many experts who explore the interrelation between energy, the economy, resources, population, psychology, spirituality, the biosphere, the limit to growth, and climate change in an honest appraisal of our civilization and sustainability. It shows that what’s needed is as much a spiritual revolution as a physical one.
