Cultivating Conscious Community
One of the greatest spiritual teachings we can embrace is the idea that we are one, and therefore can become conscious of our connection to each other, the planet and all of creation. There is a growing awareness that human beings are actually hardwired for compassion, cooperation and unconditional love. These ways of being are natural and in fact the inevitable evolutionary destiny for humankind.

In honor of Earth Care Month, the April Spiritual Book Club choice is “Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants” by Robin Wall Kimmerer. Written by an indigenous biologist and teacher, this book offers us an opportunity to explore the relationship between humans and Mother Earth, with plants and the natural world as our teachers. It is described as “simultaneously meditative about the abundance of the natural world and bold in its call to action on ‘climate urgency.”

This is a good time of year to scout out new trails for the group to walk in the spring.
There is now a men’s group at Unity. The goal of this group is be to provide opportunities to socialize and to participate in service projects that would benefit the Unity community and perhaps the local community as well.
