Every year toward the end of March and beginning of April, the beloved ospreys make their way back to Cape Cod from the Southern hemisphere to build up their nests and have a family. They came very close to extinction with DDT in the 60’s, so they are all the more treasured as they have made a great comeback. Because they mate for life and return to the same nests each year, they become like family for many of us, and excitement grows as we anticipate their return.
If you have favorite osprey nests you like to observe all summer, you can go and bless those nests for a safe return of the osprey pair and visualize them raising a family that thrives. If you don’t yet have a favorite nest, find one, or some in your neighborhood that you can bless and observe throughout the season. Ospreys are extraordinary birds to keep company with, and they have much to teach us.
